Walt Daniels began volunteering for the Trail Conference in 1979 and has continued since then in a variety of capacities. He is a retired computer researcher from IBM and was instrumental in bringing technology to the Trail Conference. As webmaster for www.nynjtc.org (1997- ), he is currently working on a massive upgrade.
Since being involved with building the AT relocations in Punam County (1983-85), he has become a master trail builder/crew leader/crew member. He has been involved with the Dutchess Putnam AT Management Committee since 1983 and has been a certified USFS chainsawyer since 1997.
Walt is on the Publications Committee (1994 - ) and is a major contributor of GPS tracks for many Trail Conference publications. He is co-author of Walkable Westchester (both editions) and was involved with the New York Walk Book (6th edition) and New Jersey Walk Book (1st edition).
In addition to his Trail Conference responsibilities, he serves on the Town of Yorktown's Conservation Board and is chair of the Open Space Advisory Committee. Walt served on ATC's Board of Mangers (1999-2005).
With his wife Jane, he finished section hiking the AT in 2007 and with Jane and their two daughters climbed all the 46 high peaks in the Adirondacks finishing in 1987.
